Have you ever dropped something in the water and wondered the best method to find the object ? Are you looking for lost “treasure”?
The PADI Search and Recovery Diver Specialty course will teach you effective ways to find objects underwater and bring them to the surface.
The PADI Search and Recovery Specialty course is a great way to learn underwater navigation and search techniques to cover all eventualities of good or limited visibility. Students also learn how to rig and attach an object to a lift bag as well as the most effective and safe way in which to lift the object to the surface.
Find lost items and lift them to the surface. It’s fun to use the lift bag. Not only are these skills fun, but very practical and ultimately useful because eventually, you’ll lose something in the water, for instance dropping anything valuable over the side of the boat, or loose something like a torch while scuba diving. As a Search and Recovery Diver, you’ll know how to search for and recover it.
During this course you'll learn search and recovery dive planning, organization, procedures, techniques and how to deal with potential problems. How to locate large and small objects using search patterns. How to use a lift bag and other recovery methods. Limited visibility search techniques.
The course consists of a knowledge development session & 4 Open water dives which will cover:
◦The planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards of search & recovery diving
Limited visibility diving and underwater navigation techniques
Proper techniques and safety considerations for object location, including the use of various search patterns, lines and reels
Proper techniques and safety considerations for recovery of objects using various lifting devices
Knowledge development is based on a self-study method, allowing you to study in your own time, at your own pace. Home study is backed up by an academic session with a PADI Instructor, to ensure full understanding of search and recovery equipment, techniques and navigation.
