Open Water Dives Here in the Mediterranean on the Costa Blanca students will complete 2 Open Water dives to certify as a PADI SMB Diver. During these dives students will demonstrate the ability to deploy a surface marker buoy from both a stationary and hovering position, as well as using the SMB line as an ascent reference.

Knowledge Development Knowledge Development is based on a self-study method, allowing you to study in your own time, at your own pace. Home study is backed up by an academic session with a PADI Instructor, to ensure full understanding of surface marker buoy theory

SMB Diver Specialty Course Whether you're planning on coastal diving like in the Northsea or on your holiday to Egypt, having a Surface Marker Buoy (SMB) will increase your safety and comfort and will alert boat traffic and other divers to your location.
If you're ever involved in drift diving from a boat then a delayed SMB will allow your boat skipper to follow your dive and pick you up promptly upon surfacing. They are also a great visual reference on your ascents too. For example the majority of dive boat skippers operating in the UK are now requesting that you use an SMB and many more will follow, so it really goes without saying that this course is a must for anyone wishing to sea dive
